Well, my lovely friends... the topic of money.
Drew and I made this decision to adopt. No one twisted our arms, no one said we had to do this. WE made this decision. We decided to put all of my Usborne commission toward the adoption and to get a loan for the rest. We are prepared to have a monthly baby payment, we knew that the cost would be around $30,000.
Our dear friend, April, asked us if she could do a Silent Auction for us. We accepted her amazing gift and watched her run with Sarah, Courtney, Amy and Nathan ( along with many others ) to bring us a hugely successful event at Good People Brewing Company. We raised $3,300! Thank you to so many of you that attended and donated items and money and purchased items!
We have had several friends ask us about doing fundraisers and we have declined, because, TRULY, we just don't want anyone to feel obligated, pressured, or guilty in any way for not giving money. We do NOT expect it at all, truly.
Soooo, with THAT being said let me share with you what April, ( yes that same amazing April ) brought to our attention: Walk 153 http://www.thestationchurch.net/missions/walk153/ This is such a POWERFUL opportunity to share with YOU that there are 153 million orphans in this world. Drew and I are not saints, we aren't perfect, we are normal every day people on this journey. And you can do this too! It isn't easy, but YOU can! And not everyone is called to adopt, but you can still HELP! You can give to the general fund or select the Golightly family. 100% ( yes 100% ) of your donation will go toward our adoption and EVEN BETTER, it is TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
We were just selected as one of the families for this walk and have already received a generous donation from one of my oldest dearest friends, Kelly. Her work ( Arron's Rents ) is sponsoring us. It was at this moment that I knew God had this all planned out. Truly for me to be so stubborn about accepting help from friends that want to was so selfish. I just didn't want my friends to worry I was going to hit them up for some moola. Please know I love each of you. Your support doesn't have to come from your pocket. Just spread the word about this event. Big things can really happen from this. Not just for our sweet Lila, but for so many orphans who need our help.
